PRE-DEPLOYMENT RELIGIOUS PARADE HELD FOR ECOWAS COMPANIES

A non-denominational Religious Parade has been held for Ghanaian troops on Sunday 10 December 2023 at Oppong Peprah Multi-Purpose Hall of the Battle Training Camp (BTC), Bundase, ahead of their deployment to their respective Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) mission areas.

The joint spiritual upliftment service held for troops of ECOWAS Mission in the Gambia Ghana Company 8 (ECOMIG GHANCOY 8) and the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea Bissau Ghana Company 3 (ESSM-GB GHANCOY 3) was organized under the auspices of Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS).

The Guest of Honor for the Parade, Chief Training Officer at Army Training Command, Colonel Rafat Awudu, on behalf of the Commander Army Training Command, Brigadier General SWK Parbey emphasized the theme; “Rejoice Because You Are Called Out”, rehashed the uniqueness of both missions and charged personnel to be ambassadors of the Ghana Armed Forces. 

He further urged troops to eschew acts of laziness in order to raise the flag of Ghana high and shared his experience on past missions in order for troops to draw relevant lessons to enable them succeed in their missions.

The Imam, Lieutenant M Abubakari, advised troops to take advice instructions from higher authorities in order to achieve mission success. 

Delivering the sermon, Chaplain for ESSMGB GHANCOY 3, Rev Captain RNA Kwei-Nsoro, urged the troops to perceive the mission as a special task assigned by God since they have been carefully selected to carry out their mandate as peacekeepers.
