Northern Command has held a closing ceremony for Training of Trainers (ToT) Course on the Prevention of Recruitment and Use of Children in Armed Violence on Friday, 5 September 2025. The two-week course, organised by the Dallaire Institute for Children Peace and Security, provided lessons in areas such as the identification and prevention of child recruitment, support for vulnerable children and their communities, and advocacy for stronger policies and effective enforcement. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo in his address commended the participants for their commitment to the training and described them as “champions of children’s rights”. He noted that the course was designed to strengthen the capacity of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and Sister Security Services in dealing with children in conflict and violent communities. He urged participants to share their knowledge, develop strategies, and remain steadfast in safeguarding the innocence and potential of children. GOC expressed appreciation to the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security for their invaluable role in making the programme possible, describing it as a significant contribution to global peace and security. He further thanked the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Immigration Service for participating in the programme. The Special Military Advisor to the Dallaire Institute, Major General William Omane-Agyekum (Rtd) congratulated the facilitators and participants for successfully completing the training, and encouraged them to continue learning, improving and networking in their various fields of service.
