The patrols led by the Commander Rear, Lieutenant Colonel Kakra Sasu-Antwi focused on reinforcing security in border communities, engaging residents, and verifying intelligence on the reported presence of armed men in the area. “The enhanced troop presence not only improved vigilance but also acted as a deterrent to potential threats”, he noted. Local reports indicated that three unidentified individuals with concealed faces were sighted moving through the community. The Chief of Bongo, Soboko Naaba Sapion, confirmed earlier encounters and pointed to traces such as cooking sites and footpaths believed to have been used by the suspects along the cross-border river. The community welcomed the operation, expressed relief at the visible show of force, and appealed for more frequent patrol.
11 Mechanised Battalion has intensified border patrols in Bongo Soe on Friday, 29 August 2025 as part of measures to prevent suspected terrorist infiltration from neighbouring Burkina Faso.
